Sacred Walking

Sunday, June 2nd, 2013

Sacred Walking is an ancient, traditional form of walking meditation that teaches us to slow down and touch the land with our senses.  Here we can discover the rhythms of nature, plus sights, sounds, smells and stillness that would normally be lost to us by scurrying along the path.

When our walk becomes laced with Divine purpose and pilgrimage, the visible and invisible touch, allowing us to create a journey where process and destination open us to spiritual experience and enlightenment.

Sacred Walking is open to anyone who wants to reconnect with Nature, Walk in Beauty and form Right Relationship with All Our Relations.

Instructions for Sacred Walking
  • Use your intuition to find a path in the woods, park or other natural site to walk.
  • Walk consciously, slowly, and deliberately.
  • Tune into the subtle magnetism of nature; sites, smells, sounds.  Feel the air caress your body or how it feels when you touch a tree or plant.
  • If you are familiar with the terrain, notice something new.
  • Be perceptive and sensitive to any shifts in your consciousness.
  • How does this route change during different daylight hours or evening?
  • Journal about your findings.

Walking in Beauty

Tuesday, May 7th, 2013

As we step into our post 2012 world ruled by the element of ether, it is important to remember and recognize the spiritual truths that say everything is alive, has a spirit and is connected.  By practicing these sacred covenants we learn how to Walk in Beauty, while creating our new paradigm.

When we choose the Beauty Path we are making  a commitment to live in harmony and Right Relationship with nature, people and All Our Relations.  In this way of life, love and good-will flow from our heats into our daily activities, and we become peacemakers to all we meet.

Honoring Our Ancestors

Sunday, December 30th, 2012

The tradition of honoring the Ancestors has been ongoing for thousands of years in many countries all over the world. However here in the West, we usually find this to be a foreign concept because this practice is no longer in our cultural memory. Here we are intent on objectifying the world, and concentrating on the new. Yet when we tap into our spiritual memory, truly connect with our bodies, and live in Right Relationship, honoring our ancestors simply becomes a natural part of life.

Who Are Our Ancestors?

Although the ancestral world can be defined as  All Our Relations or the collective of humanity who came before us, many prefer to narrow this realm down to their family lineage.

Why Should We Connect With Our Ancestors?

Working with your ancestors can create both personal growth and transformation by healing past, present and future familial patterns. Our ancestors can also become a great source of guidance, wisdom, and support in our everyday life.

Who Can Work With the Ancestors?

As long as you have the willingness to do so, anyone can work with his or her ancestral line.

How Do We Work With Our Ancestors?

Because some ancestors may need healing, it’s usually best to first create sacred space with your favorite deity,  and then thank them for only contacting you with  your deceased relatives that serve Love and Light. Then you can honor your lineage simply through acknowledgement, or by building an altar where you can maintain a relationship.

We can also learn from our Hispanic brothers/sisters who celebrate all who have come before, each November 2nd, on the Day of the Dead. Here, everyone goes to the cemetery for a grand party of eating, dancing, singing and well wishes for their deceased relatives.

Shamanic Apprenticeship Update

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

As I am writing this issue, I am also preparing for the Journey Conference at Laurel Ridge Retreat Center in the NC mountains near Boone. My seminar will be on the partial content of two of my Tutorials on Spirit of Place.

Spirit of Place: The Landscape & Spiritual Development and Spirit of Place: Earth Magnetics and Blood Mysteries will be featured.

I will talk about the meaning of Spirit of Place, how connecting with Spirit of Place can help you grow spiritually and recount several of my own experiences when I journeyed on pilgrimage to many of Great Britain’s sacred sites in 1996.

Also covered will be information on how Earth and Stellar magnetic currents affect our civilizations and our everyday lives. We will also work within sacred space to contact our local mountain spirit. A handout will be given with two additional exercises to help participants work with Spirit of Place on their own.
