Sacred Walking

Sunday, June 2nd, 2013

Sacred Walking is an ancient, traditional form of walking meditation that teaches us to slow down and touch the land with our senses.  Here we can discover the rhythms of nature, plus sights, sounds, smells and stillness that would normally be lost to us by scurrying along the path.

When our walk becomes laced with Divine purpose and pilgrimage, the visible and invisible touch, allowing us to create a journey where process and destination open us to spiritual experience and enlightenment.

Sacred Walking is open to anyone who wants to reconnect with Nature, Walk in Beauty and form Right Relationship with All Our Relations.

Instructions for Sacred Walking
  • Use your intuition to find a path in the woods, park or other natural site to walk.
  • Walk consciously, slowly, and deliberately.
  • Tune into the subtle magnetism of nature; sites, smells, sounds.  Feel the air caress your body or how it feels when you touch a tree or plant.
  • If you are familiar with the terrain, notice something new.
  • Be perceptive and sensitive to any shifts in your consciousness.
  • How does this route change during different daylight hours or evening?
  • Journal about your findings.

Walking in Beauty

Tuesday, May 7th, 2013

As we step into our post 2012 world ruled by the element of ether, it is important to remember and recognize the spiritual truths that say everything is alive, has a spirit and is connected.  By practicing these sacred covenants we learn how to Walk in Beauty, while creating our new paradigm.

When we choose the Beauty Path we are making  a commitment to live in harmony and Right Relationship with nature, people and All Our Relations.  In this way of life, love and good-will flow from our heats into our daily activities, and we become peacemakers to all we meet.

April 2012 Astrology Update

Thursday, April 5th, 2012

This month Mercury turns Direct on April 4th so is a time to work on all the projects you’ve had on hold the last three weeks.   Also in the news: Venus moves from Taurus to Gemini, helping you become more flexible in your relationships, and Pluto turns Retrograde on April 10th, until September 18th, 2012, indicating a good time to turn within and take care of your inner growth and transforming old patterns into new ones.

The Full Moon happens this month on April 6th at
17º 23′ Libra and  in the Northern Hemisphere is known as the Pink Moon that celebrates the return of spring with pink flowers.

The key theme here is creating balance while relating to yourself and others.   With an exact square between Mars & Venus, this is an excellent time to maintain a low profile when relating with loved ones or business partners, as emotions will run high, with the potential for heated arguments.

A close square between Venus and Neptune/Chiron, emphases the need for authentic relationships and personal growth.  With Neptune/Chiron opposing Mars we will need to be on the look-out of what is actually fact and what is an imaging of our over active emotions.

Neptune trine Saturn enhances the idea of staying home alone to do your inner work and meditation instead of going out and raising hoopla with friends on the Full Moon.

The New Moon on 21st April at 1º Taurus is as complex as last month because the heavens have produced another Grand Kite configurationThis time we have the same Grand Trine in Earth signs: Pluto in Capricorn, Sun/Moon in Taurus, and Mars in Virgo, with the Neptune/Chiron in Pisces sextile both the Sun/Moon and Pluto, along with Neptune/Chiron opposing Mars in Virgo.

In summary this complex configuration is reminding us that in this important time of seeding ideas and visions, we need to recognize that the Earth is our Mother and to form Right Relationship with her and all her inhabitants. It’s also an excellent time to use creative visualization to change our cultural dream so it begins to serve humanity instead of colliding with it.  In this way you can ride the higher energies and not get sucked into the doom and gloom of Sun/Moon opposing Saturn.

Totem: Talking to the Deer Spirits

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Every year I usually go to some type of Spring Equinox celebration, and this year was no exception.  I attended a small labyrinth gathering on the beautiful property of a friend of mine.  We did a group walk in her 40 foot, well cared for, labyrinth and afterward, toured her manicured, all year round herb and vegetable gardens.  I enjoyed looking at the greens growing in her greenhouse, and picking up some gardening tips, along the way.  Of course, most of her garden was surrounded by a 7 foot fence to keep the deer from eating her crops.

Having no known predators where I live in North Carolina, deer are overly plentiful.  So it’s not unusual gardening conversation, to have folks comparing deer stories and ways to keep them at bay.  Most people I meet convey much frustration about deer eating whatever they plant around their house.  They have tried everything to keep them away; spraying plants with “deer off”, hanging “Irish Spring” soap in the trees, urinating to mark their property, (Yes, really!), using dogs to bark them away, growing plants that deer don’t like, and of course, fencing them out.  Nothing usually works, except for the fences.

Most people always seem astounded when I tell them that I’ve never had deer problems where I live.  Sure, I see them walking in the woods during their morning or afternoon strolls, but they know better than to come into my yard.  And when they do, I go out, bang on a pot, and chase them away.  It’s a real clear message that says, “You’re trespassing here!  Go away!”  However, these actions are only a last resort.  My real secret, is having the Guardians of the Directions (east, south, west, north), intercede for me, by simply asking the deer spirits to stay away.  And if that fails, they surround my property with Panther energy.

The reactions are usually the same.  “The Who?  Guardians?  Who or what are they?”  In Native American circles, The Guardians of the Directions are sometimes called Spirit Keepers.  They sit at, and are in charge of, the energies of each Cardinal Direction.  They are real Divine Beings, that symbolize four archangels in the Judeo-Christian belief systems. (Gabriel in the East, Micheal in the South, Raphael in the West, and Uriel in the North).  In fact every ancient culture worked with the Guardians in some capacity.  Today, they are only known to indigenous peoples, and those of us who work shamanically or follow the old ways.

It is through years of working in Right Relationship with Spirit and all of my relations, that the Guardians of the Directions have volunteered to speak to and work with other spirits in my behalf.  However, you too, can have such a relationship by opening your hearts, shifting your perceptions, and committing to a life of Right Relationship, where all life is sacred, and everything is interrelated.  When we walk our talk in this way, a whole new world opens up to us.

If you are interested in learning how to connect with the Guardians of the Directions, let me know.  We can work together in my seminar Creating Sacred Space.

Do you talk to the Spirits?  Let us know about your experiences!
